In 2026, Jennifer graduated from the prestigious Frost School of Music at the University of Miami with a Bachelor of Music in Media Scoring and Production and a minor in Composition. She is currently pursuing a Master of Music in Screen Scoring at the University of Southern California Thornton School of Music, where she continues to refine her craft in composing music for film, television, and video games.

About Jennifer Phan
A lifelong movie enthusiast, Jennifer has always been captivated by the power of film music to shape narrative and emotion. She began rescoring her favorite scenes and quickly developed a passion for combining classical writing techniques with modern production. Her music blends romantic melodic lines with contemporary orchestral textures and electronic elements, resulting in a distinctive and hybrid sound. Her inspirations range from concert giants like Tchaikovsky, Stravinsky, Copland, Adams, to modern film composers such as Hans Zimmer, John Powell, and Christophe Beck.
Jennifer has collaborated with student directors at the University of Miami on numerous short films. She has been a regular contributor to the annual Scores for the Silver Screen film festival, where her original scores are performed live by a chamber orchestra during screenings at the Cosford Cinema. In the summer of 2025, she attended the Chigiana Film Scoring Intensive Program in Siena, Italy, where she recorded her music with a 40-piece orchestra in Florence and a 20-piece choir. At the Frost School of Music, she also serves as director and lead arranger for the Rock Symphonic concert series, where she creates arrangements that fuse orchestra and contemporary bands in dynamic cross-genre performances - bringing styles like rock, metal, funk, indie, and pop into orchestral and big band settings.
Outside of composing, Jennifer is a producer, engineer, and songwriter. She produces and plays keyboards for her hard rock band, Skyrise, which released their debut EP All The Love She Has in November 2025. She also collaborated with singer-songwriter Alexys Dowling, writing and producing her folk-rock EP For the Better, and full-length album Between the Space of Then and Now. Additionally, Jennifer worked as the recording, mixing, and mastering engineer for the video game Ready Steady Ship, now released across all major gaming platforms.
